Miniplast hosted a group of MSc Mechatronics students from Ashesi University for an immersive learning experience at its production facility. The visit began with a warm welcome from the CEO, who shared a brief but inspiring history of Miniplast’s genesis tracing its journey from a modest plastic manufacturing outfit to a regional leader in sustainable production and circular economy practices.

In his address, the CEO emphasized the vital role of manufacturing in national development. He encouraged the students to consider careers in the sector, highlighting how manufacturers drive economic growth by creating jobs and fostering innovation. He also spoke about Miniplast’s collaborative approach, explaining how strategic partnerships with other companies help create synergy, expand capabilities, and strengthen the broader industrial ecosystem.

A key highlight of the tour was a technical lecture on the operation of the Haitian injection-molding machine, where students gained insights into its mechanical systems, automation features, and role in high-efficiency production. The visit concluded with an engaging presentation on Miniplast’s sustainability initiatives, including its flagship plastic waste regeneration project.

The students learned how recycled materials ranging from 30% to 100% of input are reintegrated into the production of household and industrial goods, reinforcing Miniplast’s commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation.

By bridging academic theory with industrial practice, the visit underscored the importance of sustainable engineering and collaborative learning in shaping the future of Ghana’s manufacturing landscape.
